The Digoin-Sarreguemines factory, born from the merger of two major French earthenware manufacturers, produced tableware throughout the 20th century renowned for the quality of its ivory enamel and the freshness of its hand-painted floral decorations. This tureen belongs to the 9177 pattern, one of the factory's most appreciated. On a slightly creamy ivory background, a generous bouquet combines a large burgundy rose with shaded petals, blue forget-me-nots, and deep green foliage. A blue line runs along the rim, highlighting the shape without weighing it down. The shape itself is refined: an octagonal basin with rounded corners, two well-proportioned side handles, and a cylindrical knob lid bearing the same floral decoration. The piece is complete, with its original lid. The mark on the reverse, stamped 9177 / Digoin / Sarreguemines / France, with shape number 87, confirms its origin and production period, from the 1950s-1970s. With its 27 cm inner diameter and 19 cm height including the lid, it is a generous tureen, made for large gatherings. Very good overall condition. A beautiful piece of antique French tableware, complete and signed, for lovers of French-style dining.
