This is an antique colonial Planter's Chair ca. 1920 - 1930
Beautiful authentic planter's chair with rich wood carving and original rattan weaving. Originating from Jakarta (formerly Batavia) and purchased from a local antique dealer (Cecile).
This type of chair was used on plantation verandas during the colonial era: the characteristic extendable leg rests easily transform the chair into a comfortable lounger – ideal for relaxing in the shade. (The chaise lounge of that time).
The visible brass fitting details on the armrests give the chair its characteristic, artisanal appearance.
In good, restored condition with a beautiful patina befitting its age of nearly 100 years.
A beautiful chair with a special story behind it. Decorative and a collector's item at the same time.
