Roll up, roll up… As if the curtain could rise at any moment. Above this extraordinary antique mirror, a small fantasy world unfolds, filled with lanterns, pagodas, floating balloons, and graceful figures. The scene has a theatrical quality, almost as if a forgotten performance from the Belle Époque has been frozen in time in the mirror's crown. The mirror presumably dates from the late 19th or early 20th century and is likely of French or Belgian origin. The decoration aligns with the European chinoiserie tradition: a romantic, imaginative interpretation of the Far East, popular in elegant interiors around 1900. The wooden frame is clad and finished in warm gold and brown tones, featuring painted chinoiserie motifs and hundreds of decorative brass nails along the contours. The shape is graceful and asymmetrical, with a striking high crown that lends the piece great character. The mirror glass has a beautiful aged appearance and light signs of aging befitting the piece's age. Condition: Good antique condition with clear but charming signs of use and age.
