Product description
This antique Chinese pine box is a wooden container with an ink inscription. It originates from China, from the Qing dynasty, within domestic and market utensils. These wooden boxes kept grain, seeds or goods in the rural home. The ink inscription identified the owner or the date of making. The body is of pine, with dovetail joinery at the corners and cut-out side handles. On one front it keeps an ink inscription in Chinese characters (甲申年置), referring to the cyclical year of its making. The wood shows a warm tone and the marks of use; the ink has softened with time. The surface reads authentic, with no restoration to mask it. Today it serves as a decorative box, holder or indoor planter. It fits wabi-sabi, rustic and minimalist interiors, where it brings warmth and material presence.
