This antique Chinese console table in wood with large moulded drawer, three geometric openwork sections and traces of red lacquer, is a domestic side piece from northern China around 1900. Originates from northern China, from the late Qing period, where local wood was worked with geometric openwork of architectural inspiration. Consoles with openwork lower sections were pieces of some domestic standing in northern China during the Qing Dynasty. The pierced apron zone served a decorative purpose and also lightened the visual structure of the piece. The top is of considerable length with perimeter moulding. Below the top, a single drawer with moulded front and central ring pull. Below the drawer, three sections of geometric openwork. The straight legs show traces of red lacquer at the drawer zone. The wood has developed a warm patina with golden and ochre tones. The geometric openwork retains greater darkness in its inner surfaces, accentuating the relief of the decoration. This console suits japandi, wabi-sabi or minimalist interiors. Its 122 cm length makes it ideal for wide corridors, entrance halls or behind a sofa.
