We are pleased to present this majestic 17th-century Italian antique chest. Crafted from solid walnut, its deep brown color boasts a warm, enveloping patina, enhanced by visible grain and natural signs of aging that attest to its antiquity, lending it a lived-in, inimitable feel.
Featuring a large, imposing lid, its thick, smooth surface is finished along the lower edge with a carved, serrated molding. The front is divided into elegant geometric panels with raised frames: two large horizontal panels flank a narrower central section that houses the lock. The sides echo the front's square motif and feature sturdy original wrought-iron handles for easy lifting. The lid opens to reveal a large, practical storage compartment, while on the left side, a small compartment with its own wooden lid can be used to store small items (it originally had a lock, now missing). The chest rests on a protruding molded base, supported by contoured bracket feet. Noteworthy is the antique lock and key.
This type of chest was originally intended primarily to hold bedding, such as blankets or sheets, and was placed at the foot of the bed. Today, its placement in the home is extremely versatile; it can be useful in any room and become a distinctive element of your decor thanks to its antique charm. Wherever you choose to place it, it will be a splendid addition to your home, offering functionality and a piece of Italian history to your decor.
Please note that it is in excellent condition; we have carried out a conservative restoration that has not erased its charming signs of aging but will allow you to immediately place it in your home.
