**Hsun-ok: Ceremonial Offering Vessel from Myanmar**
This richly crafted hsun-ok is a traditional Burmese Buddhist offering vessel. Such containers were used for offering and transporting food and other gifts to monasteries and temples. The tall, detachable lid and the elevated presentation on a separate stand give the object its characteristic ceremonial form.
**Construction and Decoration**
The container is constructed from turned and carved wood with deep reddish-brown lacquer. Around the shoulder and lid are broad ornamental metal bands featuring tendrils, scalloped motifs, and small blue, green, and mirrored inlays. The separate stand is robustly made and richly decorated with relief ornamentation, floral motifs, and inlaid accents.
**Aged Surface and Traces of Use**
The photos show a well-used surface with scratches, lacquer wear, dark tarnish, localized material loss, and old contact marks on the undersides. Signs of age and use are also visible on the metal parts and inlays. These traces are consistent with long-term functional and ceremonial use.
