Superb antique bronze sculpture depicting a young boy in work clothes, holding a cigarette, a typical genre scene from the late 19th century.
The work is signed Schmidt-Felling on the base, a sculptor renowned for his naturalistic subjects and scenes of everyday life.
The bronze rests on its original marble base. The casting and patina are of very high quality, with numerous details (face, clothing, posture).
Please note: there are slight traces of verdigris on the base, due to the natural oxidation of the bronze over time. This is perfectly normal for an antique piece and does not detract from the sculpture's solidity or overall aesthetic appeal.
There is a very slight mark on the marble base on the back, which blends into the marble and is therefore barely visible to the naked eye (see the base in the photo of the back).
