This exceptional 19th-century bronze offering bowl with a lid originates from the Buddhist tradition of Southeast Asia, likely Thailand or Laos. The piece is distinguished by its intricate design, featuring a separately cast lid crowned by a Naga figure, a serpent-like symbol representing protection and cosmic order in Buddhist tradition. Crafted from cast bronze, the bowl is richly decorated with stylised stupa and floral motifs, complemented by attached handles on both sides. It measures 34 centimetres in height and 22 centimetres in width. The interior preserves original ritual remains, including ash and burnt material, indicating its genuine historical use in religious ceremonies, likely within a temple setting.
