Estimated value: €1,200 – €2,000 This bronze Buddha statue has been examined by means of visual inspection, macrophotography, and analysis of its surface and construction. The statue is hollow cast in a copper alloy (bronze) and shows pronounced traces of prolonged natural aging, including mineral corrosion, ground deposits, and structural perforations consistent with long-term exposure to humid soil conditions. The modeling and posture are consistent with Burmese sculptural traditions, depicting a seated Buddha in a meditative pose. The right hand is raised in a gesture of protection (abhaya-mudra), while the left hand rests in a meditation position (dhyana-mudra). The simple ushnisha, compact hair structure, and serene facial expression indicate a functional ritual image rather than a court piece. The corrosion is deep and continuous, including in fracture and cavity zones, indicating natural metal aging over a long period. No modern fillers, welds, or recent restorations have been found. The visible damage and perforations are structurally old and form part of the object's historical condition. A later inscription on the underside may indicate reuse or recontextualization in a later period, which is common for older temple statues. This addition affects the historical interpretation but does not diminish the age and authenticity of the statue itself.
