An exceptional, original piece of craftsmanship in the classic Black Forest style.
The intricately carved figure of a woman in historical dress stands confidently beside a fully functional Réaumur thermometer scale (mercury intact). The richly decorated walnut base features finely crafted leaf and rock motifs, as well as an integrated small bowl—originally designed as an inkwell or utensil holder.
- Dimensions: L 11 cm × W 6.5 cm × H 17 cm
- Weight: 170 g
- Condition: Very well preserved with a beautiful, natural patina. Two repaired areas are present—stable and barely noticeable.
- Dating: circa 1880–1920, origin: Black Forest (Germany) or Brienz (Switzerland).
