This antique Biedermeier secretary, crafted around 1890, is a beautiful example of nineteenth-century craftsmanship. The piece combines the functionality of a desk with the storage space of a cabinet, making it a versatile addition to a classic interior. The secretary is executed in warm brown wood, presumably mahogany or burr walnut, with a striking, symmetrical grain on the flap. The interior reveals a series of small drawers and a central door, richly decorated with detailed woodcarving in the shape of a lyre and floral motifs. The exterior is characterized by three spacious drawers with wavy fronts and turned, partially fluted columns on either side. The piece is in antique condition befitting its age and is still fully functional. However, a few keys are missing and there is various minor damage, particularly to the key plates, and the top section of the drawer unit was glued on the back at some point (not visible). This Biedermeier cabinet would look excellent in a classic study, library, or living room. It not only offers a stylish workspace but also serves as an impressive decorative element that adds warmth and history to the room. Note: This concerns only the cabinet with drawers and key, but not the items on or inside it. Loose items are not included!
