About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This antique Roemer glass is an exquisite example of the glass art from Josephinenhütte during the Art Nouveau period. The piece is characterized by its elaborate production using the overlay technique, where clear crystal glass is covered with a layer of colored glass. The combination of vibrant cobalt blue and intricate cut makes this glass a remarkable collector's item.
The glass is made of high-quality crystal glass. The bowl features a detailed diamond cut, precisely worked through the blue overlay layer to reveal the clear crystal beneath. The tall, faceted stem leads to a wide foot, adorned with an elegant star cut. These traditional cutting techniques highlight the masterful craftsmanship for which Josephinenhütte was known.
The condition of the glass is exceptionally good for its age. It shows no visible flaws, and both the clarity of the crystal and the color intensity of the blue overlay are fully preserved. The brilliance of the cut and the flawless surface attest to careful storage over the decades.
As a representative unique piece, this Roemer glass is perfectly suited as an eye-catcher in a display cabinet or as part of a collection of historical glass art. It harmoniously blends into classically or Art Nouveau furnished interiors and lends a touch of historical elegance to any ambiance.
