Authentic mirror in Louis Philippe style, dating from circa 1880. The frame of the mirror is made of heavy solid wood and finished with a combination of black lacquer and gold-colored details. The back consists of hand-sawn wooden panels, a construction method consistent with the production methods of that time. The hanging cord is very likely original.
Both the frame and the mirror glass show signs of wear appropriate for their age. These can be seen in the photos. The mirror glass has a small oxidation spot of about 1 cm. The wood joint in the left corner (the miter) shows a visible gap. This has deliberately been left in an unrestored state for the enthusiast, but can be remedied with a frame clamp and wood glue. The construction of the frame and the back plate is stable. There is no movement or play in the parts. For its age, the mirror is in very good condition!
