Product description
This is a rare, antique treadle sewing machine by the German manufacturer Frister & Rossmann, produced around 1873 in Berlin. The object is an authentic piece of industrial heritage that illustrates the craftsmanship of that period. The machine is particularly complete with the original Dutch manual and various historical documents.
The construction consists of an elegantly crafted cast-iron base, marked with the initials 'F&R', and a wooden tabletop with built-in storage compartments for accessories. The machine itself is made of metal and bears the serial number 23773. The included documentation, including correspondence from 1901 and the original manual from 1872, offers a unique insight into the origin and use of the object.
The sewing machine is in good, working condition for its age and shows a characteristic patina that testifies to a long history. The drive belt has been replaced and a historical repair to the cast-iron base is visible, which contributes to its authentic character. The original accessories and the wooden cover are present.
As a decorative object, this sewing machine is a characterful addition to a classic, industrial, or eclectic interior. It functions excellently as a standalone historical piece or as a unique side table or console.
