About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
An antique wooden secretary desk with a special origin, coming from the former Sint Hippolytus Hospital in Delft. This piece of furniture combines functionality with a classic aesthetic, characterized by its curved base and richly detailed wood grain on the writing flap.
The secretary desk is made of dark stained wood, presumably oak, and stands on elegantly shaped legs. The furniture features three spacious, curved drawers in the chest and a writing flap that opens to an interior with various small drawers and open compartments for organizing documents. The brass fittings, including the ornate handles and key plates, complement the dark wood tone.
This piece of furniture is in a condition consistent with its age and intensive history, which contributes to its authentic character. The patina and signs of wear tell the story of a long life, making it a unique object with a soul. The construction is solid, and the functionality of the flap and drawers has been preserved.
With its historical background and timeless design, this secretary desk is a characterful addition to a classic or eclectic interior. It can serve as a functional desk in a study or as a decorative and narrative element in a living room.
