Private sellerProduct description
A characteristic office chair from the Amsterdam School and Art Deco period, manufactured in the 1920s or 1930s. This piece combines a robust oak frame with soft velour upholstery, resulting in a design that is both functional and aesthetically representative of its era. The chair embodies the expressive and artisanal style characteristic of Dutch design from the interwar period.
The frame is entirely constructed from solid oak, recognizable by its clear grain structure. The seat and backrest are upholstered with an old-rose velour fabric, finished with decorative nails along the edges. The chair has a total height of 81 cm, a width of 59 cm, and a seat height of 49 cm. The construction with the curved backrest and the openwork sides with spindles is a typical feature of the Amsterdam School style.
The chair is in good, used condition consistent with its age. The woodwork has developed an authentic patina, and the original finish is largely preserved. The velour upholstery is intact and shows even wear that contributes to the historical character of the furniture.
This office chair is a stylish addition to a classic or eclectic interior. It functions excellently as a standalone object in a study, library, or as an accent chair in a living space.
