Product description
This is a unique antique tray, crafted with real butterfly wings. The piece originates from British Guiana (circa 1920-1950) and features a brilliant composition of multiple blue Morpho butterflies as the central artwork.
The tray is made of a warm wood type and has two integrated handles. The artwork in the center, protected under glass, is a collage of real butterfly wings. The vibrant blue Morpho butterflies are beautifully surrounded by an exclusive border of brown Owl Butterflies (Caligo) with their characteristic, iconic eye patterns. With dimensions of approximately 46 cm wide and 25 cm high, it is an object of beautiful size.
The overall condition is good and appropriate for its age, contributing to its authentic character. The wood has a beautiful patina, and the colors of the butterfly wings are remarkably well preserved. This tray is a wonderful example of folk art from the early 20th century and can be used both functionally and decoratively, for example, as a special object on the wall.
• Country of origin: British Guiana (Guyana)
• Material: Tropical hardwood, glass, real butterfly wings
• Dimensions: 46 x 25 cm
