Product description
This is an antique medical reference work, titled "Nouvelle méthode pour guérir les maladies" by Friedrich Eduard Bilz. The book is a historical document that offers insight into the naturopathic practices of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and stands out for its richly decorated Art Nouveau cover.
It is a French-language edition with a hard cover. The interior is extensively illustrated with both color lithographs and black-and-white prints of anatomical studies, botanical plates, and medical treatments. Particularly noteworthy are the fold-out and layered paper models of the human body, which provide a detailed view of anatomy as it was understood at the time.
The book is in a condition consistent with its age and intensive use. Traces of time, such as the patina on the pages and the fragile binding, contribute to its authentic and historical character. Handwritten notes can be found on some pages, testifying to a personal past and study.
A number of loose pages
As a decorative object, this book is a fascinating addition to a classic interior, a study, or a 'cabinet of curiosities'. It is an interesting piece for collectors of antiquarian books, lovers of medical history, or as a unique conversation piece in a bookshelf.
