About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This object is an antique steelyard, a type of asymmetrical beam balance of historical origin. Its functional design and robust craftsmanship evoke a bygone era, making it a piece of great character and charm.
Made entirely of metal, the scale consists of a graduated rod and a single pan suspended by chains. The dark coloration, tending towards brown and grey, is the natural result of time on the material, giving the object an authentic aesthetic. This type of instrument was commonly used in markets and shops for weighing goods.
The piece is presented in original and unrestored condition, showing a pronounced patina that testifies to its age and use. The signs of time do not compromise its decorative value, but rather enrich its history and visual identity.
As a decorative element, this antique scale integrates perfectly into rustic, industrial, or eclectic style environments. It can be hung in a kitchen, a study, or a commercial space to add a touch of historical authenticity and a visual point of interest.
