This is an authentic coat rack by Artek, designed by the Finnish architect and designer Alvar Aalto. The piece exemplifies Aalto's mastery in wood bending and his ability to create functional objects with a sculptural quality. The design, known as model 109C, elegantly combines a hat shelf with a coat rack.
The coat rack was manufactured in Finland in 2004, as indicated on the original Artek label. The construction consists of solid birch wood and laminated, bent birch wood, characteristic of Aalto's work. The light, natural wood color is combined with four black metal hooks, offering a subtle contrast. The design is both light in appearance and robust in function, with the characteristic closed loops on the sides serving as wall mounts.
The item is in very good condition, retaining its original finish and structural integrity. The natural grain and warm tone of the birch wood are well preserved, showing the character the material has developed over the years. The coat rack is complete and ready for installation.
