About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This is the Fruitscape fruit bowl, an iconic piece of modern design from the Italian manufacturer Alessi. Designed by Stefano Giovannoni, this object challenges the traditional form of a fruit holder with its innovative and sculptural presence. The design is celebrated for its organic, landscape-like surface that creates a dynamic interplay of light and reflection.
Crafted in Italy from high-quality polished steel, the Fruitscape features a distinctive undulating surface with multiple depressions. This unique topography is not merely aesthetic; it is conceived to hold individual pieces of fruit, presenting them as part of a larger, abstract composition. The mirror-polished finish accentuates its fluid lines and transforms the bowl into a reflective centrepiece, capturing and distorting its surroundings.
The piece is in great condition, showing minimal signs of use consistent with its age. The polished surface retains its high shine and structural integrity, showcasing the quality of Alessi's manufacturing. It stands as a testament to the playful yet sophisticated design language that defined much of the late 20th-century Italian design movement.
As both a functional object and a decorative sculpture, the Fruitscape bowl is perfectly suited for a modern dining table, kitchen island, or sideboard. Its distinctive form complements minimalist, contemporary, and Italian design-focused interiors, serving as a compelling focal point.
