Good day, bidders!
In this advertisement, I am offering a small jar with a lid from the Albert Schmitter factory in the village of Oberbetschdorf (Alsace). The jar is beautifully glazed, and the four-leaf clover motifs are particularly lovely.
This jar was made in the 1960s.
The condition is fair. Under the right lighting, it appears as if craquelé is visible on the dark blue rim, but I am not 100% certain of this. There is a tiny chip near the handle and a little bit of fading due to frequent handling.

This is a beautifully decorated jar, suitable as a storage jar, candy jar, or bonbonnière. The jar is stamped with the Albert Schmitter brand. About Albert Schmitter:
Albert Schmitter was a prominent ceramist from Oberbetschdorf (Alsace) and one of the three pioneers who modernized traditional Betschdorf ceramics around 1900. After training in Strasbourg and work experience in Milan, he returned in 1912 to take over the family workshop. Schmitter introduced artistic earthenware alongside traditional stoneware, thereby building a crucial bridge between the centuries-old Alsatian craft tradition and modern ceramics. His work was essential for the preservation of this UNESCO-recognized ceramic tradition.
