Postmodern table lamp with model name Aero designed by Ettore Sottsass. This Memphis-style Italian lamp was manufactured by Bieffeplast in the 1980s.
This table lamp has the geometric shapes typical of that style. It is made of enameled steel and aluminum in gray, yellow and black. The lamp is adjustable in several ways. There are also 2 light levels that can be controlled by the switch.
Ettore Sottsass (1917-2007) was the founder of the Memphis Group, a group of interior designers from 1981-1987. The group opposed the rigid functional rules of modernism, and their ideas would leave an important mark on the look of the 1980s. Associated with postmodernism, the style drew inspiration from pop art and art deco.
The desk lamp is in very nice vintage condition with a very light scratch here and there that is barely visible.
