Product description
An elegant and highly functional adjustable German table lamp from the 1960s, executed primarily in brass with metal and plastic components. The design is distinguished by its gracefully curved tubular brass stem, elongated cylindrical shade and compact oval base. Its restrained geometry and functional construction reflect the principles of German Mid-Century Modern and modernist lighting design. A particularly interesting feature is the adjustable articulated joint at the base, allowing the stem to move through a wide range of positions. The lamp can be used upright for general illumination or lowered substantially to create a focused task or reading light. The cylindrical shade directs the light efficiently onto the desired surface. The combination of warm polished brass, mechanical adjustability and minimalist proportions gives the lamp a strong architectural presence despite its compact dimensions. The brass has been carefully repolished while retaining appropriate traces of its history. The lamp has been newly rewired and remains in functional condition, with minor signs of use and age consistent with a vintage piece.
