Early set of six Øresund dining chairs by Børge Mogensen is a refined example of Scandinavian modern design. Crafted in solid oak by renowned Swedish cabinetmaker Karl Andersson & Söner. The quality of the chairs is truly stunning. Designed and crafted in the spirit of Shaker furniture; working to create heaven on earth. Key elements are functionalism, simplicity, quality craftsmanship, use of natural and local materials, proportion and balance, modesty and humility.
In essence a celebration of honest design, where form follows function, and beauty arises from simplicity, quality, and purposeful craftsmanship.the set is in very good vintage condition, showing a beautiful natural patina and only light traces of normal use. All joints have been inspected and are strong. The seats have been newly hand-woven with paper cord, ensuring both authenticity and everyday usability.

Børge Mogensen (1914–1972) was a leading figure of Danish modernism and a student of Kaare Klint, advocating honest materials, clarity of construction, and furniture designed for daily life. The Øresund chair was designed in 1957 and named after the Øresund strait, the body of water connecting Denmark and Sweden. This name reflects the chair’s cross-border collaboration: a Danish designer working with a Swedish furniture maker. The Øresund chair embodies a shared Scandinavian design language—combining Danish functionalism with Swedish craftsmanship—and remains a timeless, versatile seating design admired for its durability and quiet elegance.
