Doorn, depicting a traditional fishing trawler / bomschuit on a wild sea. This powerful, documented marine piece dates from the early 20th century (approx. ). With a total dimension of 53 by 63 cm, the work is in fabulous, unrestored, and 100% original condition. A beautiful collector's item in the direct tradition of The Hague School. Verified Signature & Masterful Paintwork This hand-painted artwork stands out due to its dynamic composition and immediately brings a warm, historical, and calming atmosphere as exclusive wall art to any modern or classic interior: Master's Signature: In the lower right, amidst the foaming surf, is the crystal-clear, original signature "R. Doorn". The signature was applied with a very dry, light oil paint brushstroke and is organically interwoven with the underlying paint layer. Powerful Impasto Technique: The ominous cloudy sky, the foaming waves, and the splashing surf are rendered on the linen with a thick, tangible paint structure (impasto). The layered light of the sun breaks beautifully over the sails and the whitecaps. Unrestored Reverse: The back of the painting provides irrefutable proof of its pure age. The original wooden stretcher frame with authentic corner keys shows deep, very dry golden-brown wood oxidation. The woven linen canvas has uniformly yellowed over the decades.
