The Aluminium Chair is one of the great furniture designs of the twentieth century. Charles and Ray Eames designed and developed this chair in 1958 for the private home of an art collector in Columbus, Indiana (USA). For the construction, the designer couple started from the principle of the seat shell, instead of a strip of fabric or leather that is stretched between two aluminum profiles for a sturdy but elastic seat. The chair adapts to the body and is extremely comfortable, even without interior upholstery.
