About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
Offered is a set of 3 chairs, designed by the influential Italian designer Joe Colombo for Kartell. This is the iconic 'Universale' model, a milestone in design history as one of the first chairs to be entirely molded from a single piece of plastic.
These chairs are made of durable ABS plastic in a vibrant orange color scheme, characteristic of the Space Age era. The design, dating from 1965, is not only aesthetically progressive but also functional; the chairs are stackable, making them practical for various spaces. The distinctive cutout in the backrest serves as a handle, emphasizing the versatility of the design.
The set is in good vintage condition, consistent with its age and use. The chairs retain their original shape and the color is still strong, with a patina that adds character and tells the story of the object. The overall construction is solid and representative of the quality of early Kartell production.
These 'Universale' chairs are a distinct addition to any interior. They function excellently as Dining chairs in a modern or retro setting, or as striking accent pieces in an office or living space. Their timeless design seamlessly fits both minimalist and eclectic styles.
