The Cassina Cab Chair is a 1977 design by Mario Bellini. The chair was designed as a response to what the exact nature of a piece of furniture should be. The chair is therefore an extension of the body and has an appearance that blends beautifully into the space, but is not inconspicuous. The design has a skeleton of enamelled steel with a seat and backrest covered with soft polyurethane foam. The entire design, including the legs, is covered with luxurious, coarsely stitched saddle leather. This leather is connected to the design by means of 4, consciously visible zippers. That is not an easy job; the tight leather is clamped together with pliers to be able to zip it completely closed.
Before that time it was quite unique to also provide the legs with upholstery. It immediately turned the chair into a beautiful and innovative design. It is no coincidence that the Cab Chair is still one of Cassina's bestsellers. The design can be ordered directly in Black and Cognac Saddle Leather. The chair has a height of 82 centimeters, a width of 52 centimeters and a depth of 54 centimeters. The seat height is 45 centimeters.
The Cab Chair is part of the Cassina collection. Cassina is an Italian producer founded in 1927 by Umberto Cassina. The collection consists of many design classics and timeless designs. It is impossible to imagine the design world without Cassina 's knowledge and experience of traditional craftsmanship. In addition, the label has the rights of many great designers, including those of Gerrit Rietveld.
