Original Artifort chairs, model Nina.

In 2020 it will be the 130th anniversary of Artifort. This world-famous design brand, which stands for design and comfort, is indispensable in a stylish interior. Initially, Artifort made classic furniture from wood. But in the 1960s, the brand made a switch to design. In 1890, Jules Wagemans started as an upholsterer in Maastricht. His son took over the company and expanded it into furniture factory H. Wagemans & Van Tuinen. In 1928 they introduce the brand name Artifort and until the 1950s the furniture factory specialized in wooden classic furniture. The fifties marked a turning point for Artifort. A lot changed with the arrival of furniture designer Kho Liang Ie, who became Artifort's aesthetic advisor. His vision and knowledge of the design profession were decisive for the successes in the following decades.
