Product description
Elegant "4D" model dining table, designed by Angelo Mangiarotti and manufactured by Molteni; it belongs to the renowned 4D series, which originated from Mangiarotti's 1966 design and was subsequently added to the Molteni catalog.
The table features a highly minimalist structure, characterized by four architecturally shaped, angled legs and a rectangular wooden tabletop composed of two sections that allow for a central opening.
When extended, the tabletop expands from 144 cm to 192 cm in length, while maintaining a depth of 96 cm.
The design exemplifies Mangiarotti’s exploration of assembly and structural construction, where form, function, and structure converge.
Indeed, the 4D series stems from the concept of finite, interchangeable, and easily assembled components, featuring distinctive corner details that serve as both structural and aesthetic elements.
The dark wood finish and clean proportions lend the table a quintessentially Italian modernist aesthetic—strongly architectural and rationalist in character—perfectly aligned with the Italian design style of the 1960s and 1970s.
