There is something in these four cups that harks back to tables of yesteryear, when coffee was served in fine porcelain and even everyday objects retained a certain elegance. Made from Limoges porcelain, this set comprises four cups and their four matching saucers, for a total of eight pieces. Delicate small bouquets are scattered across the slightly ivory white of the porcelain: cornflowers, red, pink, mauve, and yellow florets punctuate each piece with a light touch. Nothing is overdone; the flowers simply seem to have been placed here and there, as if freshly picked from a garden. Fine golden lines highlight the contours of the saucers and follow the flared shape of the cups. The small, round, almost geometric handles lend the set that particular charm found in French tableware from the first half of the 20th century. The mark on the reverse, accompanied by the word "FRANCE", confirms a Limoges production intended for this beautiful domestic tableware, which at the time established the reputation of French porcelain. Some slight traces of time may be present, particularly on the gilding, without detracting from the set's charm or harmony. Four cups that have remained together with their four saucers: enough to rediscover the pleasure of a shared coffee, and pretty enough to certainly not wait for a grand occasion to bring them out.
