About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This set of four armchairs was designed by the designer and architect Marcel Breuer. It is the B64 model, an evolution of his iconic B32 cantilever chair, enhanced with armrests for increased comfort. The chair's floating silhouette is an icon of Bauhaus design, revolutionizing the use of tubular steel in furniture.
The structure of each chair is made of chromed tubular steel, forming a continuous frame that offers subtle flexibility. The seat and backrest are made of Vienna caning, a traditional weaving technique that provides lightness and texture. These caning panels are framed with black lacquered wood, a finish also found on the profiled armrests. As indicated by the marking, these pieces were manufactured in Italy.
The set is in good overall condition, showing a patina and character that testify to its history and use. The combination of shiny chrome, black wood, and natural caning remains a timeless material association that has retained all its aesthetic relevance over the decades.
These versatile armchairs can serve as dining chairs, accent chairs in a living room, or elegant office chairs. Their historic design integrates perfectly into Mid-Century Modern, Bauhaus, or contemporary style interiors, adding a touch of classic sophistication.
