About this seller
ProfessionalProduct description
Beautiful set of four antique silver-plated bottle coasters, with a simple and timeless design. Their wide, rounded rim, crafted like a substantial band, recalls the silversmith pieces that once accompanied decanters, wine bottles, and flasks on French tables. The reverse bears several hallmarks attesting to their silver-plated manufacture. Their style and craftsmanship allow them to be dated to the mid-20th century, around the years . These four pieces have been well used and openly bear their history. The silver plating is heavily patinated and worn in places, revealing the underlying metal, with scratches and old marks of use. This condition is fully visible in the photographs and today contributes to their character as table objects that have spanned decades. An authentic set, unpretentious but full of charm, for those who appreciate antique objects in their lived condition. Diameter approximately 14.5 cm. France, circa .
