Vintage set of 3 Penelope chairs by Charles Pollock for Castelli • 1980s Italian design • all chairs are in very good condition •
In 1982, designer Charles Pollock created a true design classic: Penelope. The American designer developed a revolutionary chair for Castelli from a technical and formal point of view: a sled base made of steel wire supports an air-permeable seat consisting of a steel wire fence covered with synthetic resin. The elastic effect of the base is emphasized by an integral polyurethane tube that acts as a shock absorber. The armrest covers are made of the same material and provide extra comfort. With Penelope, Pollock translated a new seating form into reality. That is why this timeless classic is still famous in the contemporary design world. Due to its shape there is also a flexibility in the chair with almost cantilevered basics. Very comfortable to sit in.
