Private sellerProduct description
This is a set of three ceramic soup bowls produced by the historic Dutch manufacturer Royal Sphinx, under the Petrus Regout mark, in Maastricht. Dated to 1962, the set is a fine example of mid-century Dutch design, distinguished by its clean lines and a charming, stylised handle.
Crafted from durable ceramic, each bowl features a distinct pastel colour on its exterior: a soft blue, a muted yellow, and a gentle sage green. The finish is a tactile, speckled matte that contrasts with the smooth, glossy white glaze of the interior. The bowls have a height of approximately 6 cm and a width of about 13 cm including the handle. This design reflects the functional yet aesthetically considered approach prevalent in European tableware of the era.
The set is presented in a very good vintage condition, showing minimal signs of use consistent with its age. The colours remain vibrant, and the ceramic is free from significant flaws, preserving the original character and finish of the pieces. The integrity of the design and the quality of the manufacturing are evident throughout.
These versatile bowls are well-suited for serving soups, desserts, or snacks, adding a touch of retro elegance to a dining setting. Their understated pastel palette allows them to integrate seamlessly into interiors with Scandinavian, Mid-Century Modern, or minimalist aesthetics, serving as both functional tableware and subtle decorative objects.
