This set of three armchairs and a matching stool was designed by A.R. Cordemeyer for the renowned Dutch manufacturer Gispen in the 1960s. The ensemble represents an understated and functional aesthetic characteristic of post-war Dutch Design, with the rare stool forming a valuable addition to the configuration.
The chairs rest on a slender, black lacquered metal frame that contrasts with the warm, lacquered teak armrests. The seats and backrests have recently been reupholstered with the authentic Ploeg fabric Culemburg in a neutral beige shade, honoring the original specifications of the design. The accompanying stool shares the same construction and can be placed seamlessly against the armchairs for added comfort.
The set is in excellent condition, thanks in part to the professional reupholstering. The structural integrity of the metal frames and the finish of the wooden elements have been carefully preserved, ensuring that the original character of this vintage design remains fully intact.
This timeless seating furniture comes into its own perfectly in a modern or mid-century inspired interior. The combination of armchairs and stools offers versatile arrangement possibilities in a spacious living room or a stylish reading nook.
