A very old 24-piece Alfénide silver-plated flatware set in its original brown leather-like case with gold trim and a cream interior (dimensions: length 26.5 cm x width 23 cm x height 5.5 cm).
Several hallmarks:
The Alfénide silver-plating hallmark of the widow of Charles Halphen, a silversmith registered on March 17, 1877, features a goat's head in a lozenge. The factory was acquired in 1880 by Christofle and renamed Orfèvrerie Gallia.
In 1935, the initials of the Christofle silversmiths became OC with a chess knight in a square hallmark.
