This 20th-century Sturm night lamp by J. Beck is a distinctive example of late 19th-century German design. The piece features a sculptural base depicting a figure, characteristic of the era's narrative and figurative lighting forms. Constructed with a metal base, likely spelter or a similar alloy, the lamp is finished in a silver tone and mounted on a square black marble plinth. The shade is made of textured glass in a soft pink hue, providing a warm, diffused light. The base bears the signatures "Sturm" and "J. Beck," confirming its origin from Germany in the 1890s. The lamp is fitted with a standard bulb socket and a modern black cord with a European plug. The lamp remains in good condition, showing a patina consistent with its age. The metal base retains its original character, while the glass shade is intact. The wiring appears to have been updated for contemporary use. This table lamp serves as a compelling historical accent piece. Its figurative design and soft illumination make it suitable for a bedside table, a study desk, or a console in a classic or eclectic interior setting.
