Acrylic painting on canvas, which, within a 5 x 5 grid of sub-squares, constructively seeks to resolve several tensions: the contrast of color itself, the contrast of light and dark – and, through varying numbers of different colored subgroups, the quantitative contrast. The overall composition emerges from arranging the sub-areas of a selected color subgroup into a primary figure that stands in harmonious or contrasting-dynamic tension with the background of the surrounding secondary sub-areas. Created in 2022.
