These are 2 iconic mid-century Dirk van Sliedregt dining chairs, produced by the renowned Dutch furniture factory Rohé Noordwolde in the 1950s or 60s. Background and Design: Designer Dirk van Sliedregt (1920–2010) was a prominent Dutch interior architect and lecturer at the Rietveld Academy. He is known for his minimalist and functional designs. From 1952, Van Sliedregt began experimenting with the combination of a natural rattan shell and a tubular metal frame. This resulted in a much lighter and more modern construction than traditional, all-rattan chairs. Features: This specific model has a shell made of carefully woven cane and rests on a chrome-plated (or galvanized) metal base with the recognizable slanted legs. Dimensions: Total height: approx. 83 cm Seat height: approx. 44 - 45 cm Width: approx. 44 cm There are signs of wear here and there, particularly on the base. It is rusted in places. This can be treated.
