Two Arne Jacobsen "Myren" Chairs – RH Danmark, 1950s – Recently Reupholstered.
A pair of one of Scandinavia's most iconic seating designs: Arne Jacobsen's "Myren" (The Ant), produced by RH Danmark. Sculpted aluminum frames with organic molded backs, renewed in black leather upholstery.
The Design:
The Myren (1952) is pure Jacobsen: an exercise in organic modernism distilled to its essence. The chair dissolves the boundary between form and function—the back flows without breaks, the arms emerge naturally from the frame, the base is minimal yet perfectly stable. It remains as revolutionary today as when Jacobsen designed it for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen.
Manufacture & Provenance:
Stamped RH Danmark on the base—authentic Danish production. The tubular aluminum structure is period-correct; the wooden armrests show the aged patina typical of 1950s construction.
