Product description
A striking pair of Italian swivel chairs attributed to Gastone Rinaldi for Rima. The chairs have a very sculptural shape, with softly flared backs, deep tufting and elegant four-star swivel bases. The dark brown velvet or velour upholstery gives them a warm, lounge-like character, while the metal bases add that unmistakable Italian mid-century balance of softness and structure. Comparable examples are generally dated to the 1960s, although closely related Rinaldi seating also appears in the 1950s and early 1970s market.
Gastone Rinaldi is one of the more important names in postwar Italian seating design. He worked closely with Rima, the company founded by his father and later led by him, and a number of his chairs and swivel models remain active on the vintage market today.
