This set of two table lamps, designed by Goffredo Reggiani, is a characteristic example of Italian design from the Space Age era. The lamps are distinguished by their iconic 'eyeball' silhouette, a shape that perfectly reflects the futuristic aesthetic of the seventies.
The fixtures are crafted from metal with a white finish, combined with chrome accents and a flexible, ribbed black neck. This construction allows the light source to be directed as desired, emphasizing the functionality of the design. The spherical shades feature a series of small perforations on the top, ensuring subtle light diffusion and heat dissipation. The lamps rest on a round, weighted base with an integrated switch.
The lamps are in a condition commensurate with their age and use, while retaining their original character. The flexible necks function properly and the wiring is intact. The inside of the sphere shows some rust, but this is not visible from the outside. One lamp has a black wire and the other a white one. This set comes into its own perfectly in a retro or eclectic interior. They can serve as functional reading lamps on a desk or as atmospheric accent lighting on a sideboard or bedside table.
