Product description
This is a set of two identical Japanese Satsuma-style vases, crafted from ceramic. The pieces are characteristic of the Satsuma tradition, known for its detailed paintings and rich decorative finish.
The vases have a classic baluster shape and feature a dark brown base color, enriched with polychrome enamel and abundant gilded accents. The central decoration consists of figures in relief, a technique known as 'moriage', which adds depth and texture to the design. The inside and the top rim are finished with a crackled cream-white glaze, a typical feature of Satsuma pottery.
The overall condition of the set is good, in accordance with its age and use. The hand-painted nature ensures that, although the vases form a pair, each vase shows unique details in the images. Each vase has a Japanese mark on the underside.
This set is a decorative addition to a classic or eclectic interior. They can be presented together on a dresser, console, or in a display cabinet to create a refined Asian accent.
