2x SE 119 Folding Chairs by Egon Eiermann for Wilde + Spieth
These folding chairs are from the early production run of the German manufacturer Wilde + Spieth and were designed by the renowned architect Egon Eiermann.
The SE 119 model was manufactured from 1953 onwards and is considered one of the most important examples of functional seating from the post-war period in Germany.
Characteristic of this design is the well-conceived combination of ergonomic form, space-saving folding mechanism, and sturdy solid wood construction.
The chairs consist of a solid beechwood frame, characterized by slender, tapered legs and a classic frame joint. The seat and backrest are made of multi-layered, anatomically shaped beech plywood with a natural wood finish.
The slightly reclined backrest features a striking, symmetrical cutout in the upper section, giving the chair a distinctive profile. The folding mechanism is based on a sturdy scissor-type design, with a flat wooden support at the bottom providing structural reinforcement. The folding chairs can be completely folded and stacked flat.
Condition: The chairs are in good condition for their age, with a beautiful, even patina. The wooden surfaces show some minor signs of wear, such as scratches, wear to the gloss, and slight color variations, particularly along the edges of the seats. The mechanism is fully functional, and the chairs are stable and ready for use. Overall, this is a well-preserved, authentic set with collector's value.
