About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This is a set of two antique wall Consoles, crafted in the French Louis Philippe style from the 19th century. The Consoles are made of hand-carved wood with a gilded finish, which is characteristic of the aesthetic of this period.
The design shows the flowing lines and classic motifs typical of the Louis Philippe style, such as acanthus leaves and C-shaped volutes. The gilding is applied over a red undercoat, known as 'bolus', which subtly shines through in some places. This technique was used in France and Italy to give a warm glow and depth to the gold.
The overall condition is good, with a lived-in character and an authentic patina consistent with the age of the objects. The Consoles are structurally solid and have retained their original decorative details, which enhances their historical charm.
These decorative elements are ideal for enriching a classic or eclectic interior. They can be used to present a small object such as a vase or bust, or to flank a painting or mirror, thus creating an elegant focal point in a space.
