Designed by Geoffrey Harcourt. Geoffrey David Harcourt (b. 1935) was educated at The Royal College of Art in London. In 1962, he designed his first series of small office chairs for Artifort. With his contribution, Artifort gained access to the international project furnishing market. Harcourt initially designed seating primarily for reception areas. His second design for Artifort, the 042 series from 1963, was an immediate international success. His philosophy is that the chair should relate to the person and not the other way around. "First the person, then the chair." Harcourt wins many awards and is awarded the title "Royal Designer for Industry" in 1978. These 2 chairs were probably manufactured for a project furnishing(model name is unknown to us) One of the chairs has a different pass through in the back (see photo back) The chairs are in very good condition. The legs have been raised in a professional way(see photo). This can be brought back to the old position (4.5cm) shorter with a simple operation. Chairs have been professionally cleaned.
