This set of two Barcelona chairs, designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe for Knoll Studio, represents an absolute highlight of twentieth-century design. The iconic silhouette, originally designed for the German pavilion at the 1929 World's Fair in Barcelona, is characterized by elegant intersecting lines and the luxurious appearance of the quilted leather.
The chairs feature a frame of high-gloss polished chrome, upon which the distinctive leather cushions rest. The upholstery is finished in black leather, creating a timeless contrast with the glossy metal base. The cushions feature the original Knoll Studio lining with the repeated logo, and the frame bears Mies van der Rohe's engraved signature as well as the Knoll Studio stamp, confirming the authenticity of these pieces.
